Southland Athletics

Southland Athletics

Well done to all those who went to Southland Athletics. Fiona and Nicholas went to Southland for the 100 and 60m races. Fiona got 1st in the 100m heat and 4th in the finals, Nicholas got 2nd in his 100m heat and 4th in the finals. Fiona got 2nd in the heat and 2nd in the final, Nicholas got 3rd in his heat and 6th in his final.

Flag referendum

We had a choice of voting for the new flag or the original flag
Overall the new flag beat the original flag 78-72 but in the real world the original flag had won.

Some of us kids from room 3&4 were very lucky because we got a chance to measure some wood and then saw it. here are some pictures.

Trip to Queens park

A big thanks to all the parents that took us in to Invercargill to go to the museum and play on the playground "we had a fantastic time" said some room 4 students. Some of us went on the hamster wheel, to the looked at cactus and also looked at the birds.

 This week we have been reading a book called Mrs McGinty and the Bizarre Plant. We had to write a story about the book using an I see, I think , I wonder. We had to write a short retell as you can see in this picture by Millie Scott.

Bikewise

Bikewise
During the week leading up to triathlon was bikewise. Mr Ross took us, he took us over some jumps and show us how to use our hands as to turn left or right. He also show us lots of skills to take through life. A big Thanks to Mr Ross for taking us through these skills.

Athletics

On Monday was the Limehills/Dipton athletics day. I was a chilly start but turned out very hot, the events were High Jump, Long Jump, 60m, 100m, Quoits, Soft Shot. After all the events it was time for them to count all the points to see who wins the amazing Swales Shield. The final announcement everyone has been waiting for who wins the Swales Shield the winner is............... Limehills School YAY!!!!!!! everyone shouts. Now some year 8 kids are going to carry the Swales Shield around the field while all the kids follow.
